    8:46 AM (UTF-3, Argentina ST): Arrived EZE (Ezeiza Airport, Buenos Aires) after a 110 hour overnight flight.
    Stayed at Hotel Posada de los Auguilas in Ezeiza. Spent the day walking around Ezeiza, a semi-rural suburb of Buenos Aires.

    Mark and Huy joined us. The five of us were taken on a daylong nature tour with Esteban Daniels, first to the Tierra del Fuego National Park and then to prairie overlooking the beach on the east side of Ushuaia.

    We boarded the ship on January 16th.

    Attended an orientation meeting in the lounge

    We wore insulated clothing and learned to don bright red life vests

    After 2 1/2 windy days crossing Drake Passage, our first stop in Antarctica was near an island in Freud Passage, off the north end of the Antarctic Peninsula.

    After a few days on the ship, the five
    of us adopted a dining room table.
